We love starting our mornings with hands-on learning and spending time working, learning, and growing together during centers! So much learning is happening in 2nd grade! ❤️✨ #MJEchampions #BeTheReason #LearningLeading
Congratulations on the following girls for making the YDL volleyball team. Please read the entire flyer for information about the first practice and mandatory parent meeting.

Students went on a shape hunt, explored real-world 3-D objects, and practiced identifying and describing their attributes using their new vocabulary: faces, edges, and vertices! 🧵🌍🎲

Learning is always more fun when it is hands-on play! 🐾

🔎 Find Someone Who… in Ms. Owens’ Class! ❤️
Such a fun way to get to know our classmates, make new friends, and learn what makes each of us special! 🥰✨ We had the best time finding classmates who matched each clue! #BeTheReason #MJE #MCPSS #LearningLeading #RaiseTheBar
Most importantly, we learned that our words and actions can affect how others feel. We should always treat our classmates with kindness, respect, and caring hearts. We never know when a kind word or a friendly smile might make someone’s day better. #BeThe Reason #MCPSS #MJE #LearningLeading #RaiseTheBar

Ms. Bullard's class had an amazing time reading "The Day a Monster came to School"! Together, the class worked as a team to create awesome class rules that everyone could follow. Then, each student got to design their very own monster—what a creative and fun way to bring the story to life! #mcpss #LearningLeading #oneteamonegoal #MJE #bethereason

Mrs. Berryhill is excited and honored to join the school community as your new Assistant Principal! She has been an educator for 20 years, with a background in school counseling, and is passionate about supporting students and helping them navigate the challenges they face.
One of the things she loves most about working with students is listening, encouraging, and helping them think through problems so they can make positive choices and find solutions. She believes strong relationships and a supportive environment are key to helping every student feel valued and successful.
Mrs. Berryhill looks forward to getting to know our students, families, and staff and working together to make this a wonderful school year. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling, and always looking forward to their next adventure!
She is grateful for this opportunity and excited to begin this new journey together!

Today, Mrs. Kittrell's first graders enjoyed a game to learn the importance of teamwork. They had to work together to save Will the Worm (a gummy worm) by putting him in a life preserver ( a peach ring). #LearningLeading #PerseverancePropelsProgress #MCPSS

Help us welcome another fabulous addition to our faculty, a new first grade teacher. Here is a little introduction:
Hi! I’m Mrs. Davis, and I’m so excited to teach first grade! I recently graduated with my degree in Child and Social Development from the University of Mobile and have several years of experience working with elementary students. I love making learning fun, building relationships, and helping every child grow in confidence. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, cheering on my kids at the ballfield, drinking coffee, and reading a good book. I can’t wait for an amazing school year together!

Mrs. Scruggs married her middle school sweetheart and has three children. She enjoys reading, music, photography, horror films, and seasonal activities.
She began as a substitute teacher before transitioning to a long-term position in a self-contained Special Education classroom. I Mrs. Scruggs discovered a genuine passion for this work—the students, the team, and the meaningful progress we celebrate together. This role aligns with her lifelong commitment to supporting children's growth and development.
Welcome to MJE!
