Congratulations to our 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Qualls for winning a $1000 grant from Alabama Power Foundation. The grant will be used to support Mrs. Qualls’ project title, “Putting Geography in the Hands of Students.” She plans to provide students modern, hands on resources, including updated maps, durable interactive globes, and cultural knowledge through games. She cannot wait to help her little learners be rich in geographic literature. The enhancement of these skills will also aid the students to understand and interpret complex information, which is essential for advanced reading comprehension, problem-solving, and data interpretation.  #PerseverancePropelsProgress #LearningLeading #MJEchampions

Mrs. Fortner's second-grade class collaborated with Mrs. Danzey's first-grade class to explore the significance of details in writing. The second graders had previously composed instructions on making a peanut butter sandwich. Upon reviewing a few, the students noticed that several crucial steps were missing.

During their unit on family, friends, and pets, Pre-K was honored to have one of our local heroes join us. SGT Sydney Lee, Military Working Dog Handler and a graduate of Citronelle High School in 2016, has devoted 6 years of her life to the Army serving our country. The students were greeted with a real-life war dog and Army veteran, SAL, who served alongside her. She brought her knowledge and experience to McDavid-Jones to show the kiddos just how cool her job really is. The students enjoyed every minute of it. We are so proud of you, Syd. Thank you for spending time with our students! ❤️💙
